This example compares the thermal response of a soil to a cooling pipeline using a conduction only analysis versus a forced convection analysis with groundwater flow. The influence of the S-shaped pipeline on the overall thermal regime of the soil over a 200 day duration in each scenario is considered. The duration of both transient analyses must be changed to 200 days, with 600 time steps that increase exponentially from an initial time increment of 0.5 hours. The results should be saved every 480 steps to reduce solve time. Several time steps (10, 20, 40, 80, and 120 days) should be specified at the bottom of the Time tab such that they appear in the defined time steps.
